The objective of this project is to develop a system of monitoring, control and management of a PEMFC integrated as an engine on different logistics equipments. The necessary HW and SW will also be included.

The specific objectives are:

  • To carry out the integration of two different technologies: a fuel cell and an internal logistics device and the validation of the resulting system. The chosen type of fuel cell is a Proton Exchange Membrane (PEM). The indoor logistic could be a forklift and/or AGV (Automatic Guided Vehicle).
  • To reduce the environmental pollution. The only sub-products using a PEM stack is water and heat.
  • To diminish the costs by 15% which the logistics operation entails. Implementing an automatic fuelling system without taking account a machine operator,  the associated cost is reduced.
  • To eliminate the fuelling time since it is reduced from 8 hours (recharging time for conventional batteries) to 2 or 3 minutes.
  • To increment the energy efficiency by 10%. The half-life of a battery is around 5 years. Using the PEM stack raises it up to 10 years. Thus, the investment cost is reduced and the whole life cycle is increased.
